Updates and Announcements of the Next Two Events!

Some bad news but more good news.

First, due to a combination of issues, we're cancelling the event on February 25th. We'll likely reschedule that for May or June.

But the good news, we're announcing dates for two new events!

In March, we'll be partnering again with the San Jose Museum of Art for a collaborative event with their current Around the Table exhibition. Food is the focus of an evening of Pecha Kucha from local leaders in the area.
Thursday evening, March 20, 6 - 8PM
http://www.sanjosemuseumofart.org/around-the-table

In April, we'll be reprising last years epic event where we had the graduating Masters of Fine Arts present their works. Fourteen graduates will inspire with images and details of their works. If you missed it last time, you really should try to attend. And this event will be returning to our favorite downtown venue: Cafe Stritch!
April 14, Evening, exact times to be announced.

Already a busy year for San Jose Pecha Kucha. Hope to see you at these events!

End of 2013 - Updates/Announcements

First, thanks to everyone who came to our show this week.  We had an incredible turn-out for any show, but to combine that with the audacity of holding it on Thanksgiving week (some said we were cRazY!) made the capacity crowd at Cafe Stritch all that much more satisfying.

Second, thanks to our amazing presenters who brought it Tuesday night.

Third, thanks once again to Steve and Max Borgenhagen of Cafe Stritch for once again making us feel at home in their awesome club.  If you don't know Stritch yet, you're missing out.  Go there for great jazz, great people, and a really cool place to hang out.

OK, now the big announcements:

Our next show will be on February 25th at Cafe Stritch!  We've got two presenters anxious to participate already, so if you're interested, get in touch!

Shortly after that, we'll be doing another special show in conjunction with the San Jose Museum of Art.  That's already booked with presenters who are relevant to the exhibition on food (don't worry, I'll come up with the actual name shortly.) Our prior event at SJMoA was a really cool event with some great speakers, and museums make for neat places to hold Pecha Kucha so you'll want to mark your calendars now for Thursday, March 20th.  Details will be forthcoming in December.

Finally, we'll be pulling together videos from this week's event sometime next week.  Again, watch here for more details.

Ready for no-holds-barred Pecha Kucha?

We're back and we're excited. We're done with one word themes.  This time the theme is What you make of it!Which as you can tell really opens things up.

Pecha Kucha themes set a tone but should not dictate a content barrier for presenters. The audience should expect a series of short, concise, amazing presentations that will inspire, astound, and entertain you for the evening! Pecha Kucha are 20 slides, each shown for 20 seconds. Presenters show their creations, discuss their inspiration, their creativity, the effect that the work has had... which will inform and inspire the audience as well!

Sonoma Chicken Coop is our terrific venue sponsor for this event. We're encourage you to arrive early and patronize this affordable restaurant and bar prior to the presentations. There is also a bar near the presentation area that will be functioning throughout the show. Sonoma Chicken Coop is family and budget friendly, so if you haven't been there before you're in for a treat! Arrive early and join us on the 2nd floor for PKSJ#2!

Presentations will include:

  • The Making of the film "The Offering" - by Michael Zachary Huber and the Cogswell Polytechnical College Team

  • Baycon TV: How to Create and Destroy a TV Station in Four Days! by Stephen Nelson

  • Why Roasting a Pig is Better Than Talking About Work! by Peter Nyboer

Trivia

How do you pronounce Pecha Kucha?

The pronunciation can be confusing for English speakers.

Try breaking it up the like this:

Pe - Chak - Cha

Although we've also heard it like this:

Pe - Cha- ku - Cha

or

Pe - Chaku - Cha

Any one seems fairly recognizable, so we're not judging anyone.

See, it's easy.
