Terrific first event. Some equipment problems delayed our start but all the presenters were well received and the audience seemed engaged and entertained.

Theme for the first PKSJ event is Reflection.
Pecha Kucha themes set a tone but should not dictate a content barrier for presenters. Arguably an association with the theme is preferred, and probably expected by the audience.
In other words, Reflection is a pretty broad theme, one that could be applied to just about any presentation that reflects on a topic, or presents on a topic that reflects.
re·flec·tion –noun 1.the act of reflecting
or the state of being reflected. 2.an image; representation;
counterpart. 3.a fixing of the thoughts on something; careful
consideration. 4.a thought occurring in consideration or meditation.
5.Physics, Optics. the return of light, heat, sound, etc., after
striking a surface.

Hey, it's Pecha Kucha in San Jose, CA!
Our first event is on October 20th at
The Improv, in downtown San Jose. We're really excited because it's an incredible theatre, full bar, great stage, terrific seating... well, it's just great. Normally The Improv hosts great stand-up comics, so it's a bit of a change for them to host some great PK presenters. But at least one of which has done stand-up himself. More on that later. But if you're in the San Jose California, Silicon Valley area we really hope you will plan to join us that night. If you'd like to be on the mailing list for the San Jose, CA Pecha Kucha events, follow this link and get signed-up! It's a very low volume list, exclusively Pecha Kucha announcements. We're also want to hear from those who want to present at our events, so if you're interested, please follow
this link and send us a message!
How do you pronounce Pecha Kucha?
The pronunciation can be confusing for English speakers.
Try breaking it up the like this:
Pe - Chak - Cha
Although we've also heard it like this:
Pe - Cha- ku - Cha
or
Pe - Chaku - Cha
Any one seems fairly recognizable, so we're not judging anyone.
See, it's easy.
